Il-PONKS jagħlqu A Few Rules for Predicting the Future b’wirja tax-xogħol tagħhom, We Still Have Time. Wieħed mill-PONKS jirreċita ċ-ċiklu poetiku li jinsab fix-xogħol, li jdawwar bejn id-dubju u sens imbiegħed ta’ possibbiltà, filwaqt li l-ieħor ibiddel ir-ritmu tiegħu, u jfixkel l-influss. Il-wirja mhijiex kompletament ikkontrollata u lanqas totalment aċċidentali. F’dan l-ispazju instabbli, il-lingwa, il-materja u ż-żmien jiltaqgħu għal mument qasir, qabel ma jċedu.

A Few Rules for Predicting the Future takes its title from a 2000 essay by Afrofuturist Sci-Fi writer Octavia E. Butler, in which she calls for a grounded futurity shaped by interdependence, transformation, and imagination.
Taking inspiration from her insistence that today change is the only constant, the exhibition brings together international artists whose works move between critical engagements with the present and speculative propositions. Meaning emerges in the gaps, blind spots, and fractures of contemporary reality, marked by crisis, wars, traumas and upheaval. Rather than attempting to predict what is to come, the artists trace the future’s contours from the ground up. Their works operate as constellations; interlinked, provisional, and emergent. Refusing coherence as a fixed endpoint, the projects in the show hold space for contradiction, tension, and transformation, inhabiting a horizon of potential that resists closure and completion.

Finissage: An evening with Ponks Collective. Malta.
PONKS close A Few Rules for Predicting the Future with a performance with their work, We Still Have Time. One PONK recites the poetry cycle within the work, that circles between doubt and a distant sense of possibility, while the other shifts its rhythm, disturbing its flow. The performance is neither fully controlled nor entirely accidental. In this unstable space, language, matter and time meet briefly, before giving way.Curator Maren Richter
