Nordic Resonance tistieden lill-udjenza tidħol f’dinja immersiva ta’ ħsejjes, imnissla mill-pajsaġġ maħkum mir-riħ u forzi naturali ta’ Shetland, u mill-interazzjoni delikata bejn is-saffi soniċi naturali, umani u ambjentali, fl-isfond tal-lok geogrifiku bejn l-Iskozja u l-Iskandinavja.
Maħluqa flimkien mill-perkussjonist u sound artist Renzo Spiteri u mill-flawtist Richard Craig, dan il-kunċert jinsegg l-improvizzazzjoni mal-perkussjoni, hsejjes minn elementi naturali u l-elettronika ta’ Spiteri u l-flawti ta’ Craig. Kull preżentazzjoni ssir esperjenza unika fejn l-istruttura tiltaqa’ mal-ispontanjetà, u l-preżenza tiltaqa’ ma tifkiriet. F’Malta Nordic Resonance ghandha toħloq kuntrast qawwi bejn l-ispazji akustiċi miftuħa ta’ Shetland u t-tessut soniku dens u vibranti ta’ Malta, u tħeġġeġ riflessjoni dwar kif il-post jinforma dak li nisimgħu, u kif. Ippreżentat fi Spazju Kreattiv, din il-kuncert joffri esperjenza alternattiva ta’ smigħ: stedina biex nieqfu, niftħu widnejna u nkunu sensittivi ghal-ambjenti soniċi li ngħixu fihom. F’dinja dejjem aktar bizla’, Nordic Resonance toffri mument rari ta’ serħan, konxjenza u reżonanza bejn ġeografiji differenti.
Il-kunċert se jkun segwit minn sessjoni ta’ taħdita mal-artisti/Q&A mal-mużiċisti, immexxija mill-artist, kuratur, u akkademiku Vince Briffa. Permezz ta’ din is-sessjoni, l-udjenza se tkun imħeġġa toffri ħsibijiet u kummenti dwar il-proġett u l-proċess ta’ żvilupp tiegħu.

Nordic Resonance hija ppreżentata bħala parti mill-programm ta’ Spazju Kreattiv bl-għajnuna mill-fond National Lottery through Creative Scotland u Band-Aid Music.
Renzo Spiteri huwa artist tal-ħsejjes u mużika, kompożitur, perkussjonist u improvizzatur Malti li x-xogħol tiegħu jinsab mgħemuż bejn l-arti tal-ħoss, l-installazzjoni fuq media differenti u l-prestazzjoni. Rebbieħ tal-Premju Royal Television Society Craft and Design 2025 għall-Ħoss, u Nominat għall-Premju Emmy®️ 2025 ( L-aħjar Ħoss – Dokumentarju), Renzo żviluppa prattika immersiva li tgħaqqad strumenti akustiċi, dettall ta’ ħsejjes naturali u proċessar elettroniku f’ambjenti multisensorjali.
Fil-qalba tal-vjaġġ artistiku tiegħu bħala artist tal-ħoss u kompożitur hemm involviment profond mal-fenomenu naturali, b’mod partikolari mal-baħar, il-kosti u d-dinja naturali. Ix-xogħlijiet u l-kompożizzjonijiet ta’ Renzo huma esperjenzi immersivi li jaqbdu l-essenza tal-interazzjoni li dejjem tinbidel bejn in-natura u l-ħoss, u jingħaqdu f’ improvizzazzjoni, elettronika kemm fix-xogħol ta’ l-istudjo tiegħu kif ukoll fil-prestazzjonijiet diretti u l-ħolqien artistiku tiegħu. Permezz ta’ prattiċi metikolużi, Renzo jittraduċi n-nuances sottili tal-ambjent naturali fil-paletta sonika tiegħu, u joħloq djalogu uniku bejn l-organiku u s-sintetiku. Ix-xogħol tiegħu spiss jinkludi relazzjoni simbjotika mad-dinja naturali, fejn il-ħsejjes ambjentali jsiru ko-ħallieqa fil-proċess artistiku tiegħu.
Minbarra l-arti tal-ħoss tiegħu, Renzo huwa mużiċist u performer apprezzat. B’aktar minn tletin sena ta’ esperjenza internazzjonali fil-prestazzjoni, il-prestazzjonijiet dinamiċi tiegħu jgħaqqdu strumenti differenti, u oġġetti ta’ kuljum, fejn jkopru ġeneri li jvarjaw mill-kelma mitkellma, mużika dinjija u jazz, sa xogħlijiet klassiċi u esperimentali. Huwa jikkollabora b’mod wiesa’ ma’ artisti minn dixxiplini differenti, mużiċisti, narraturi, żeffiena, artisti viżivi u produtturi tal-films. Huwa ppreżenta f’pjattaformi u festivals prestiġjużi fl-Ewropa, fl-Asja u fl-Amerika, fosthom Royal Festival Hall (Londra), United Nations Headquarters (Ġinevra), Jerwood Hall LSO St. Luke’s (Londra), Sonic Arts Research Centre (Belfast), Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington DC), SOTA (Singapore), National Concert Hall (Dublin), Babylon Club (Istanbul), Ludwig Forum (Aachen), TAK theatre (Berlin), Nordic Music Days (Faroe), WOMAD, Festival of the Desert, Future Everything Festival, Sonorities, Musica Viva, PASIC, fost oħrajn, fejn daqq bħala solist, kollaboratur u improvizzatur f’diversi ġeneri mużikali.
Msejjaħ bħala “primittiv, xi drabi estatiku ta’ forza Fauvista...” (Gramophone Magazine), Richard Craig żviluppa approċċ distintiv lejn il-flawt, billi jikkollabora ma’ kompożituri biex jiżviluppa xogħlijiet ġodda għall-istrument. Imwieled f’Glasgow, huwa studja fir-Royal Conservatoire of Scotland ma’ Richard Blake, u mbagħad, bl-appoġġ tad-Dewar Art Awards u l-Scottish International Education Trust; fil-Conservatoire ta’ Strasbourg ma’ Mario Caroli.
Richard daqq ma’ gruppi bħal Musikfabrik, Klangforum Wien, ELISION, kif ukoll ma’ gruppi Skandinavi bħal CAPUT u Kammarensemblen, u ma’ ensembles Britanniċi bħal Ensemble Octandre, Explore Ensemble u Apartment House. Barra milli hu artist, Richard huwa wkoll improviżżatur u kompożitur, u ħadem ma’ Barry Guy, Angharad Davies, Rhodri Davies u kien wieħed mill-fundaturi tal-Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra. Bħalissa, Richard huwa ko-prinċipal tal-flawt mar-Riot Ensemble.
Bħala artist, għandu żewġ diski solo, Vale u Inward, u rrekordja ma’ Another Timbre, Wergo, FHR, Métier, kif ukoll ħa sehem f’numru ta’ rekords diretti għall-istazzjonijiet SWR, BBC u Finnish Radio. Nordic Resonance invites audiences into an immersive sound world shaped by Shetland’s windswept landscape and the delicate interplay of natural, human, and environmental sonic layers at the crossroads between Scotland and Scandinavia.
Co-created by percussionist and sound artist Renzo Spiteri and flautist Richard Craig, the performance weaves live improvisation with Spiteri’s percussion, electronics, and field recordings and Craig’s flutes. Each presentation becomes a unique encounter where structure meets spontaneity, presence meets memory. Bringing Nordic Resonance to Malta creates a powerful contrast between Shetland’s expansive acoustic openness and Malta’s dense, vibrant soundscape, prompting reflection on how place shapes what—and how—we hear. Presented at Spazju Kreattiv, the work offers an alternative listening experience: an invitation to pause, attune, and reconnect with the sonic environments we inhabit. In an increasingly noisy world, Nordic Resonance becomes a rare moment of grounding, awareness, and resonance across geographies.
The performance will be followed by an artist talk/Q&A session with the musicians, moderated by artist, curator, and academic Vince Briffa. Through this session, the audience will be encouraged to offer feedback, thoughts and comments about the project and its developmental process.

Renzo Spiteri is a Maltese sound artist, composer, percussionist and improviser whose work sits at the intersection of sound art, multimedia installation, and performance. Winner of the 2025 Royal Television Society Craft and Design Award for Sound, and a 2025 Emmy®️ Award Nominee (Outstanding Sound - Documentary), Renzo has developed a deeply immersive practice that blends acoustic instrumentation, field recordings, and electronic processing into richly textured, multi-sensory environments.
At the core of his artistic journey as a sound artist, field recordist and composer is a profound engagement with natural phenomena, particularly with the sea, coastlines and the broader natural world. Renzo’s works and compositions are immersive experiences and journeys that capture the essence of the ever-changing interplay between nature and sound, merging improvisation, electronics, and field recordings both in his studio work, solo live performances, and multi-media creations. Through meticulous field recording practices, Renzo translates the subtle nuances of the natural environment into his sonic palette, creating a unique dialogue between the organic and the synthesised, with his work often involving a symbiotic relationship with the natural world, turning environmental sounds into co-creators in his artistic process.
